Fibromyalgia (FMS) Treatment
Options
(Understanding Fibromyalgia pain, including treatment options.)
Looking for relief from the symptoms of Fibromyalgia or the Fibromyalgia defined as muscle and connective tissue pain,
referred to as FM or FMS.
Fibromyalgia is characterized by chronic widespread
pain with symptoms that include debilitating joint stiffness, weakness in
the limbs, numbness and tingling, fatigue, sleep disturbance, some individuals
may also report difficulty swallowing, and cognitive dysfunction, bladder and
bowel abnormalities.
The
chronic, widespread pain of fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) typically manifests
itself as pain and stiffness. Symptoms of Fibromyalgia often include deep
aching, throbbing pain, draining fatigue, stiffness of joints, as well as, muscle
weakness.
Fibromyalgia is frequently associated with psychiatric
conditions such as depression and/or anxiety, as well as, stress-related
disorders such as posttraumatic stress disorder. However, not all individuals
with fibromyalgia experience all associated symptoms, Fibromyalgia may present
in several different ways.
Fibromyalgia effects some 2-4%
of the population with females nine times more likely to
develop Fibromyalgia than males.
Clinical studies have proven that Ultram is an
effective pain relief treatment option for both the
acute and the chronic pain associated with Fibromyalgia.

The
diagnosis of Fibromyalgia can be difficult. Many healthcare professionals do not
consider Fibromyalgia a disease secondary to a lack of abnormalities that can be
found on physical examination and the absence of specific diagnostic tests.
In the past, Fibromyalgia was considered either a neuropsychiatric condition
or a musculoskeletal disease. However, evidence from research conducted over
last thirty years has revealed abnormalities within the central nervous system
that affects an area of the brain that may be linked to the clinical symptoms of
Fibromyalgia.
Additional research suggests that alterations in the
central nervous system might be the result of childhood stress, or prolonged or
severe stress.
Although there no known cure for fibromyalgia, there
are some treatments that have been shown to be effective in reducing symptoms
associated with Fibromyalgia, including medications, patient education,
behavioral interventions, and exercise.
Again,
clinical studies have proven that Ultram is an
effective pain relief treatment option for both the
acute and the chronic pain associated with Fibromyalgia.

Treatment of Fibromyalgia
(Understanding the treatment options for Fibromyalgia.)
In recent history, individuals that complained of
constantly being exhausted while experiencing pain all over were usually told
"its all in your head". Now we have a diagnosis, Fibromyalgia.
Individuals with Fibromyalgia account for a large portion of rheumatology
outpatient visits while Fibromyalgia is in the top three diagnosis made by
rheumatologist. Unfortunately, there are very few effective treatment options
for individuals with Fibromyalgia.
Please review the following that addresses
the various treatment options for Fibromyalgia.
Prescription Drugs for the
Treatment of Fibromyalgia
(Ultram is effective against
the pain associated with Fibromyalgia.)
The following prescription drugs have been shown to be
beneficial in individuals who suffer from Fibromyalgia. Especially, Ultram which
helps to relief the pain that is so often associated with Fibromyalgia.
Antidepressants
Unfortunately, although there is some benefits from other prescription drugs,
their side effects need to be weighed against their benefits. For example,
antidepressant have been shown to prove some relief against the pain associated
with Fibromyalgia. However, the side effects make the
patient dull, lethargic, or fat, neither meet their goals nor those of society.
Anti-Seizure Drugs
The anti-seizure drugs Neurontin and Lyrica have been tested to provide relief
against the pain associated with Fibromyalgia. Neurontin is approved for use in
treatment of neuropathic pain but not fibromyalgia. Lyrica, originally labeled
for the treatment of nerve pain suffered by diabetics, has been approved for the
treatment of fibromyalgia. A Cochrane Database analysis of Lyrica use in chronic
pain concluded that “A minority of patients will have substantial benefit with
Lyrica, and more will have moderate benefit. Many will have no or trivial
benefit, or will discontinue because of adverse events.”
Dopamine Agonists
Dopamine agonists Mirapex ReQuip resulted
in some improvement in a minority of patients. Again, side effects, including
the onset of impulse control disorders like compulsive gambling and shopping,
have led to concern about using these drugs for the treatment of Fibromyalgia.
Cholinesterase Inhibitors
Recent studies have shown that Cholinesterase inhibitors, such as,
Mestinon (pyridostigmine bromide) have shown to be beneficial in allowing
individuals with Fibromyalgia to exercise for longer periods of time without the
pain that usually follows exercise in this population.
Pain Relief Drugs
One prescription pain relief medication has proven to be beneficial for
the treatment of Fibromyalgia with very few, if any side effects, Ultram (tramadol).
Unlike the other prescription drugs that provide relief for the symptoms of
Fibromyalgia. Ultram has very few, if any negative side effects.

Fibromyalgia Treatment
Testimonial
(Review how Ultram help Dan cope with the
Fibromyalgia pain.)
Review the following testimonial of an individual that
finally got relief from the symptoms if Fibromyalgia with Ultram.
Some four months ago, my doctor wrote me a
prescription for Ultram. I was nervous about taking a prescription drug.
However, the symptoms of fibromyalgia were so intense I needed some
relief. So I filled the prescription for Ultram.
Ultram is a mild non narcotic pain reliever. While
Ultram is not a narcotic, the brain responds the same way to Ultram as it would
to a narcotic pain reliever. Ultram, also known as,
Tramadol after the active ingredient in Ultram allowed me to sleep. Ultram's
calming affect combined with ability to block the pain finally enabled me to get
a good nights sleep.
Ultram also improved my overall mood, I feel more
content and/or motivated to be more active. Later, I discovered Ultram has an
active ingredient that acts as a mild antidepressant. Finally, Ultram suppressed
my appetite and I am losing the weight that I gained from being inactive from
the pain associated with Fibromyalgia.
Good news you can now by Ultram online without a
prescription

The first positive benefit that you might find from
Ultram is increased sleep. That one is easy to explain. If you are not in pain,
you sleep better. Also, the medicine works on the brain to serve as a calming
agent, and this also helps sleep. Some people claim they feel hyper on Ultram,
but this has not been the effect for me.
The second positive benefit I
noticed from Ultram was that I felt a bit happier. Not that I was depressed, but
I actually felt like doing things and getting out of the house. When I
researched this, I found out that the active ingredient in Ultram acts as a mild
antidepressant, thus the elated moods.
Ultram, truly gave me a second chance with regards to
relieving the pain associated with Fibromyalgia. Although as with any
prescription drug check with your doctor prior to taking Ultram for the
treatment of Fibromyalgia. Sometimes different drugs don't mix so well so best
to check with your GP.

Physical Treatments For Fibromyalgia
(Physical treatments can provide relief for Fibromyalgia.)
Many times individuals forget about the physical
treatments for Fibromyalgia. Physical
treatments for the treatment of Fibromyalgia include exercise, physical therapy,
acupuncture, massage therapy, etc.
-
Exercise for the treatment of
Fibromyalgia - Physical activity has been shown to be
a valuable fibromyalgia treatment. However, the activities should be chosen
very carefully and started at a low impact level. The goal is to exercise
slowly enough so you can condition your muscles without generating pain.
Early studies are showing that individuals with fibromyalgia can exercise
more efficiently if they are given the drug Mestinon pyridostigmine
before to exercising.
-
Physical therapy for the
treatment of Fibromyalgia - physical
therapy can prove to be very beneficial for individuals with Fibromyalgia.
Physical therapists teach individuals with fibromyalgia how to improve
their range of motion while increasing their strength. These therapists are
also beneficial in showing individuals how to relieve the symptoms of both
stiffness and pain that is so often associated with fibromyalgia.
-
Acupuncture for the treatment
of Fibromyalgia - acupuncture in the past was
considered to be an "alternative treatment", however, even the prestigious
Mayo Clinic is endorsing Acupuncture as a beneficial treatment for certain
medical conditions. Many early studies have shown Acupuncture to be
beneficial in treating the pain associated with
Fibromyalgia. However,
the pain relief associated with Acupuncture is reported as being fleeting or
lasting only a few days, weeks or possibly months.
-
Massage therapy for the
treatment of Fibromyalgia - massage therapist have the skills to
manually address and relieve intense fascial and musculoskeletal pain. Even
comprehensive pain management programs will intermittently experience
setbacks, known as "flare-ups". These flare ups are indicative of oxygen
insufficiency in the muscles Since massage therapy increases tissue
oxygenation, the pain associated with "flare-ups" can often be relieved by
massage therapy.

Your Diet and Fibromyalgia
(Certain foods can have a negative effect on Fibromyalgia.)
Studies have
shown that those individuals with severe Fibromyalgia benefit by not consuming NutraSweet (aspartame) and/or MSG (monosodium glutamate).
The reason, both glutamate (in MSG) and the amino acid, aspartic
acid (in aspartame) can stimulate pain augmenting receptors in your spinal cord.
These are called NMDA receptors. Some individuals with Fibromyalgia
improve very much on a Fibromyalgia diet that avoids MSG and aspartame.
Individuals with Fibromyalgia should consider eating
modest size meals without excessive sugars or simple carbohydrates or a high
content of fat. Occasionally, individuals with Fibromyalgia symptoms will
improve with the elimination of certain foods, such as, gluten/wheat, yeast,
milk, sugar to which they personally are sensitive.

Fibromyalgia Treatment Conclusions
(Ultram will relieve the pain associated with
Fibromyalgia.)
Different
Fibromyalgia treatments prove to be more effective for some individuals than
others. However, of all the above listed Fibromyalgia treatment Ultram (tramadol)
has proven to be the most effective Fibromyalgia treatment with regards to
relief the pain associated with Fibromyalgia.
As mentioned above, Ultram (tramadol)) is one of a group of
drugs called centrally acting analgesics (agent for blocking pain). These pain
relief drugs work by acting on chemicals in the brain to stop pain. Ultram, has proven
to be effective against the pain associated with Fibromyalgia. The
Ultram testimonial presented above is just one of countless testimonials in
which Ultram as allowed individuals with Fibromyalgia resume their normal
activities pain free.
